The Scottish Law Librarians Group was formed in 1988 to meet a need to support law librarians working in the distinct jurisdiction of Scots law.  The overall aim of the Group was to support and strengthen the network of libraries in Scotland which handle legal information.

The first meeting of the group was on 3rd February 1988 with 45 members present, 4 of whom are still members after all these years! The initial focus of the group was on training and increasing networking opportunities.

In the early 2000s, membership of the SLLG grew to the high watermark of around 100. Members were first able to benefit from a group website at this time, allowing easy access to both group business and to contact other members securely.

In 2013 this improved, current, group website was launched and from 2015 the group have been successfully tweeting and blogging too.

Many things have changed since 1988 but at our core we still provide both training and networking opportunities for our members.
